In 1952, the Fair’s Mascot “Big Tex” made his debut at The State Fair of Texas.
Which runs from September 24-October 17th and has been held yearly in Dallas since 1886.
Corn Dogs were invented at the State Fair of Texas in 1942, along with other fried fair, the carnies fry anything and everything. This year the winner was Fried Frito Pie.

*Full Disclosure: The grand total of caloric intake was somewhere around well we lost count around the third corn dog and chicken sandwich and fried cookie dough and beer and nachos and pizza and salad (for good measure)!
